Naivas, Darajani Gogo and Fortune Sacco battle for playoff slot as NSL concludes

Darajani Gogo coach Paul Ogai has said their battle for the National Super League playoff match against Luanda will be like a final.

Darajani Gogo need a win against the Vihiga-based club to enhance their chances of a play-off slot.

“ The match will be like a final for us. We don’t care what happens in the other games. Our focus is on our game and hopefully seal a playoff place,” said Ogai.

Naivas, who are also chasing a play-off slot, have a tough fixture against NSL champions Nairobi United at Dandora Stadium in Nairobi. At the same time, Fortune Sacco will battle Kisumu All Stars at Moi Stadium, Kisumu.

Naivas are third on the log with 59 points, same as fourth-placed Darajani Gogo, but the retailers have a better goal difference. Fifth-placed Fortune Sacco have garnered 57 points.

Second-placed Administration Police Service (APS) Bomet, who have also bagged the second automatic slot in the FKF Premier League, will welcome relegated SS Assad at Bomet Stadium.

In the relegation battle, Mombasa Stars and Mombasa United are locked in a fight to avoid the drop. Mombasa Stars host Samwest Blackboots in a match they need to win as they pray their Coast region rivals, Mombasa United, drop points. Mombasa Stars sit 17th on the log with 33 points, while Mombasa United are 16th with 34 points.

Mombasa United will welcome Kibera Black Stars at Mbaraki Sports Club and need a victory to survive the axe. Already, Muhoroni Youth and SS Assad have been relegated to the third-tier league. Muhoroni Youth were relegated over match-fixing allegations.

Elsewhere, Migori Youth welcome Nzoia Sugar at Migori Stadium while 3K FC entertain the Michael Olunga Foundation Academy (MOFA) at Moi Stadium in Embu County.

Mully Children’s Family (MCF), coached by Vincent Nyaberi, concluded their games last weekend when the Yatta-based side held FKF Premier League-bound APS Bomet to a barren draw at Moi Stadium in Embu.
