Former Vihiga Queens skipper Lorna Nyarinda has warned Kenyan players seeking greener pastures abroad to understand their contracts.
"When you are given a contract make sure you can read it. Understand the clauses to evade some of the problems I faced while in Albania," Nyarinda said on her Facebook page.
"When you fail to read properly you may end up being a jailbird for serving a contract that doesn't exist or extend your contract unknowingly."
In addition to contractual issues, Nyarinda said she faced racism.
“I wasn't comfortable because of the issues we had with the other girls. They subjected me to cold food every day,” she added.
She felt unappreciated off and on the pitch.
She revealed how tough it was to return home following the expiry of her contract.
“I want to thank Kefwa and Chris Osale. Were it not for their support, I wouldn’t be back in Kenya,” Nyarinda said.
Nyarinda worked hard at Vihiga in the hunt for foreign football. Unfortunately, it never turned out as envisioned.
“I travelled to Albania to join a top team. I signed a contract hoping to change our fortunes,” Nyarinda stated on her page.
“We want to change our lives and make something out of it by being different, but some places aren’t worth it,” she added.
