Omari fired up for Kenya Aquatics age group show at Kasarani

Crawford International School swimming coach Omar Ali Omari relishes the challenge of splashing against top clubs and schools at the Kenya Aquatics Long Course National Age Group Swimming Championship on June 22-23 at Kasarani.

A total of 45 Kenyan teams have confirmed participation in the two-day championship.

On the international front, Zambia, Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Nigeria have confirmed their entries, highlighting the championship's growing reputation.

“Our teams have undergone rigorous training and I am confident in their ability to deliver an impressive performance and win the overall title," said Omari, the Chairperson of the Technical Committee for Kenya Aquatics.

Support from parents, swimmers and the school administration has motivated his team.

He assured stakeholders all necessary arrangements have been made to guarantee a seamless event as per the World Aquatics rules.

The championship has garnered support from numerous sponsors and partners including ORS, Optiven Real Estate, Avenue Hospital, Touride Adventures, Zetech University and TW Solar.

Elsewhere, 22 teams have confirmed participation at the Kiambu County Aquatics Association (KCAA) Sprints and Relays Swimming Championship slated for  ACK Memorial School in Thika, opposite Blue Post this weekend.

Top schools expected include Agakhan School, Woodcreek School, Juja Elite, Potterhouse School, Nova Pioneer, Mpesa Foundation Academy, Braeside International, Jawabu School and Oshwal Academy.

Aquashark Fins Swim Club is among the clubs enlisted, ensuring a diverse and competitive field.

Mpesa Foundation Academy head coach John Otieno said: "We are looking forward to the meet with great anticipation. Our team is in excellent form and ready to dominate. This championship marks the end of the Kiambu Aquatics Swimming League 2023-2024 season. We aim to finish strongly."
