Kenyan pugillists dominate Korea Ambassadors Cup in Kampala

Their stellar performance saw them clinch a total of 28 medals with 12 of them gold.

•Faith Adhiambo was voted the Most Valuable Player after winning gold in the Kyorugi senior women’s U46kg category. 

•Meanwhile, her compatriot Ashley Munyasia won a silver medal. In the U57kg category, Kenyan Dock Stacy beat Ugandan in the Kyorugi senior women’s division.

Kenyan pugilists dominated the ninth edition of the Korean Ambassador's Taekwondo Cup held at the Lugogo Indoor Arena in Kampala, Uganda.

Their stellar performance saw them clinch a total of 28 medals with 12 of them gold.

The event attracted 250 pugilists, comprising 131 senior men and 33 senior women. Out of the total, there were 65 boys and 21 girls, who competed in the Poomsae and Kyorugi categories.

Kenyan was represented by six clubs, including Regional Taekwondo Club, Ragumo, Kisumu, ICY Kenya, Madera Taekwondo and Swift Kicks while Uganda boasted representation of 19 clubs.

Faith Adhiambo was voted the Most Valuable Player after winning gold in the Kyorugi senior women’s U46kg category. 

Meanwhile, her compatriot Ashley Munyasia won a silver medal. In the U57kg category, Kenyan Dock Stacy beat Ugandan in the Kyorugi senior women’s division.

Similarly, Rebeccah Maria clinched the bronze in the Kyorugi senior women’s over 73kg category after a hard-fought match against Beroparwoth Kelly of Uganda Police.

Adding to Kenya's glory, Hazeny Lumwach emerged as the sole medallist in the Kyorugi junior women’s U52kg category, where she won gold.

Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) president William Blick pledged to collaborate with the Uganda Taekwondo Federation to introduce an electronic scoring system.
