Kenya Ports Authority teams cruised to Game One wins as the 2023/24 playoffs started at Nyayo Stadium gymnasium.

The dockers had to fight tooth and nail before beating a stubborn Africa Nazarene University (ANU) Wolfpacks side 68-52.

The winners took a 41-24 advantage at the break but found the students a different proposition after intermission.

Thomas Odhiambo recorded 14 points, Gerry Wekesa made 12 and Job Byron added 10 for the coastal powerhouse.

ANU, who will travel to Mombasa for Game Two and Three — if possible — had 12 from Kuril Govier, 11 from Fred Odendo and 10 from Justin Opiyo.

KPA women’s side were too strong for ANU Panthers as they took a 33-2 half-time lead and humiliated them to 61-17.

The winners sailed off to a 16-0 first-quarter cushion and 17-2 in the second Malian Aminata Semasseko notched 11 points and Natalie Akinyi 10.

Ulinzi Warriors completed their regular season fixtures with a 57-33 win over the United States International University USIU Tigers.

The soldiers were ahead 29-27 at the break and fired enough shots to carry the day. Eric Mutoro nailed 27 points and Elisha Odhiambo 11 for Ulinzi.

USIU were lifted by Vitumbiko Mponela’s 17 points.
