The Lake Region Kenya Technical Training Institutions Sports Organization (KATTISO) ball games will be held from May 28 to June 1 in Siaya County.

Lake Region KATTISO secretary Edward Sogoni said games will be held at Siaya Technical Institute.

The four-day championship will feature football and basketball for both men and women while women will also battle it out in netball.

The championship will be used to select teams to represent the region at the nationals to be held at Sigalagala National Technical Institute in June.

In 2022 when the championship was held, Omuga Technical and Vocational College emerged as winners after overcoming Ramogi Technical Training College (RIAT) in the finals.

Mawego National Technical Training Institute is expected to defend the women’s soccer title but they are expected to face stiff competition from Omuga TVC.

In netball, hosts and defending champions Siaya TVC are expected to defend their title.

Sogoni said the entry of Kisii and Kisumu National Polytechnics will spice up the championship.

Peter Bett, the Keroka Technical Training Institute games director said they are keen to reclaim the men’s soccer title which they last won in 2019 when they also emerged as national champions.

“We have a good team and I believe we can reclaim the regional and national titles,” said Bett.

Further, Bett added that they have introduced women’s soccer. “This is the first time we are entering a women’s team. "Since they will be making their debut, we expect the team to perform well and at least reach semi-finals,” added Bett.
