Kamusinga out to reclaim handball title, says coach Simiyu

Moi Girls’ Kamusinga handball coach Godfrey Simiyu has expressed his sides' readiness to re-claim the national title after beating debutants Ulanda Girls’ 25-11 in Friday's semifinal.

 "We're geared up for the title. Victory is within our grasp. My young squad is primed and ready," Simiyu declared.

Attributing his triumph to tactical finesse, Simiyu reveals his meticulous planning.

"While strategising for the semifinal, I rallied our defence and attack to counter Ulanda’s strength. Our tactical prowess secured the win," he said.

Simiyu will his charges for the final to ensure a flawless performance. "I'll dissect today's game to identify any weaknesses. With the right strategy, victory is certain," he vows.

Kamusinga player Juliet Wanyonyi lauded their defensive focus.

"The coach’s emphasis on defence propelled us to victory. This journey to the national final marks a significant milestone for many of us," she said.

Kamusinga will face Kwanthanze, who beat Ulanda 22-17.

Meanwhile, rugby 15s defending champions Butula dominated Kitondo 32-23 to reach the final. Joseph Wakhisi crossed over twice while Pravin Ouma, Daniel Wafula, Michael Lukisa and John Onyango. Captain Adrian Kwesa sealed the deal with a conversion.

Butula face All Saints Embu, who overpowered Lenana School 33-10.

In athletics, Rift Valley swept the podium in the boys’ 10km race.

Cornelius Kipkosgei won in 31:29.78, followed by Festus Kimutwo (31:31.16) and Calvin Muthii (31:47.76).
