Omariba steals the show at Nakuru darts Open tourney

Wycliffe Omariba beat Nyeri's Mwangi Wageni 4- 1 to win the men's singles final during the Jacaranda Open darts tournament held in Nakuru over the weekend.

The tournament, organised by Nakuru county darts branch under the leadership of Peter Kariuki attracted more than 150 participants from almost 20 clubs in all age groups.

Omariba, commonly referred to as ‘OneTouch’, beat Joseph Washira 3-1 in the semis to secure a slot in the final.

In the ladies' single category, Millicent Wanjohi (Jacaranda) beat Selina Sakawa (Magereza) 4-0 in the best of seven to carry the day.

The doubles category saw Omariba and Mathew Ngeno hammer Peter Ngare and Francis Mulonzi of Magereza 4-1 points to secure the title.

Earlier on, Omariba and Ngeno smashed Joseph Washira and Francis Kagiri 3-0 in the semis to qualify for the finals.

Felix Mwaura and Samuel Waithaka lost to Peter Ngare and Francis Mulonzi in the other semifinal match.

Meanwhile, in the ladies category, Selina Sakawa and Anne Mashira thrashed Mary Njenga and Millicent Wanjohi of Jacaranda club 4-3.

The U-25 category witnessed Vincent Kimutai (Kirima Club) emerge victorious after beating Elijah Kariuki (Jacanda) and Antony Njuguna.

David Gaitho showcased his experience, dominating the special category for participants over 60 years old by beating Richard Kogo (Magereza) and Joseph Karanja respectively to clinch the title.
