Lenana rugby coach Nick Abok is optimistic about a strong finish and a ticket to the national championships as the Nairobi region secondary school games conclude on Saturday.

In the semi-finals played at Jamhuri High School,  Abok's charges beat  Nairobi School 29-10. Lenana led 10-3 at halftime.

Lenana face Upperhill in the final in an attempt to qualify for the nationals for the first time since 2006.

Upperhill beat Dagoretti 22-7 in the other semifinal.

Abok attributed the win to discipline.

In the quarterfinals played on Thursday, Lenana defeated Jamhuri 41-14, Dagoretti triumphed 55-0over Aquinas, Upper Hill dominated Highway 63-3, and Nairobi School upset holders Ofafa Jericho 24-13.

Handball champions Hospital Hill will face Highway in the boys' final while Dagoretti Mixed will take on Highridge in the girls' decider.

Hospital Hill clinched a 26-23  victory over Aquinas, while Highway Secondary beat Lenana 31-12.

Dagoretti Mixed dominated Utawala 38-15 and Highridge secured a 38-15 win over Ruai Secondary.

"The match was good but we lost psyche during the game which cost us," said Lenana School handball captain Ezra Gitonga.

Nairobi School beat Highway 2-0 in the hockey semis with Upperhill registering a similar scoreline against Starehe in the boys' category.

Mwiki beat Starehe 4-0 and Pangani 1-0 to Ngara in the girls' category.

Nairobi School face Upperhill in the final while Mwiki and Pangani face off in the girls' decider.

Aga Khan defeated Hannah's 29-13 while Raila Educational Centre thrashed Ngara Girls  46-4 In girls' basketball.

Starehe meet Dagoretti in the boys' final after respective semis wins over  Jamhuri  (47-20) and Nairobi School (50-23).
