Debutants Kimumu Secondary School are keen to make a statement when the Uasin Gishu County games throw off at Nova School on Friday.
Kimumu, under coach Brenda Rutto, will field teams in boys' and girls' 5x5 basketball.
Rutto, who joined the school late last year, has warned their opponents to be wary of Kimumu's charge.
“I am happy to present a basketball team at the county championships for the first time. This is a big achievement," said Rutto.
The school had never sent a team at the county games and Rutto believes having the two teams in this week's championships.
In boys' 5x5 basketball, Kimumu will face Mother of Apostle Seminary and Kipsangui Boys in Pool 'A'.
The girls' side will challenge Loreto and Uasin Gishu High in Pool 'A'.
Rutto said reaching the quarterfinals will be an achievement but she still fancies a crack at the title.
Rutto, who was previously in charge of Kalyet Boys' handball team, said: “I am new here but we have laid down plans to ensure the school performs well at the championships. As the sub county secretary, I must ensure that my school performs well,” she said.
