Bunyore Starlets' head coach Timothy Ondeko has insisted that his plan to finish among the top three in the Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) 2021/2022 is still alive.
First things first, the tactician said they plan to utilise all their chances properly to secure the three points against Nakuru City Queens this weekend at ASK grounds.
"Bunyore Starlets miraculously survived in the last two seasons," he noted. In the 2022/2023 season, the team narrowly escaped relegation after winning against Nakuru City Queens," Ondeko said.
The tactician said as a team, they must stamp their authority in the KWPL so that they start competing for trophies.
"We can win the trophies like any other team in the league but we must stamp authority first," he said.
Ondeko urged his girls to be a bit tactical and sharp on the pitch, saying they will be up against an opponent who is also fighting relegation.
Nakuru are currently in position 10 with 11 points and face relegation after the exit of Trans Nzoia Falcons and Gaspo Ladies due to financial challenges.
Bunyore are currently in position six on the log with 15 points. Kenya Police Bullets top the log with 31 points, followed by Vihiga Queens' position with 28 points.
Ulinzi starlets are third with 26 points, Kibera Ladies fourth with 24 points and Wadadia fifth with 16 points. Zetech Sparks (12), Bungoma Queens (12), and Soccer Assassins (11) follow in that order.
Other matches on the card this weekend will see Ulinzi Starletshost Kibera Ladies at Ulinzi Complex, Zetech Sparks host Soccer Assassins at Imani Stadium in Nairobi, Wadadia Ladies face off with Police Bullet Fc at Mumias Complex and Vihiga Queens host Gaspo Ladies.
Bungoma Queens were scheduled to play Tranzoia Falcons, who have since exited the league due to financial constraints.
