Potterhouse, Seahorses rule Kiambu, Nairobi contests

Potterhouse School and Seahorses Swim clubs won the Kiambu and Nairobi Level 2 swimming championships held over the weekend.

Pooterhouse bagged 91 points, Supermarlins were second with 53, Braeburn were third with 29 points and Genesis followed with 27.

In Nairobi County Seahorses took top honours with 80 points ahead of Supermarlins (65)  and Braeburn (52).

Among the top swimmers for Potterhouse were Angela Wangui in the eight-nine years category and Nia Kihoro in the 12-13 age category.

A significant number of swimmers from both Kiambu and Nairobi qualified for the Nairobi Aquatic Level 3 swimming championship slated for February 17-18.

Other upcoming events include the Machakos County Aquatics championship slated for March  9 at St Bakhita  School in Sabaki and the Kiambu Aquatics Minnows Championship scheduled for Nova Pioneer School at Tatu City on March 2.

Kenya Aquatics Executive member Heinze Kahindo applauded both counties for successfully staging the two events.

He also highlighted initiatives such as acquiring starter horns from Colorado, USA, and enhancing the welfare of swimmers and coaches.

Kahindo encouraged stakeholders to register for the upcoming Kenya Aquatics National Masters championships slated for March 24.
