Ulinzi Starlets' head coach Joseph Wambua has warned his players that they must beat leaders Vihiga Queens on Sunday at Ulinzi Complex if they are to win the Kenya Women's Premier League title.
"To win the KWPL title, we have no choice but to beat champions Vihiga," Wambua said.
He added: "We have played our role as the technical bench to ensure you are all ready for the match and the ball is now in your court," he told his players.
In the first leg, Ulinzi Starlets lost 2-1 against Vihiga Queens at Moi Stadium, Kisumu — a defeat Wambua attributed to poor officiating.
He exuded confidence that his squad is fit and has what it takes to bring down the 2022/2023 Champion Vihiga Queens.
"We didn't participate in the transfer window and our squad is still intact," Wambua noted.
Meanwhile, Vihiga Queens' head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu has equally declared the team ready for Ulinzi.
"We know we are a target of every team by the mere fact that we are top of the table. However, we plan to fight until the last day," Nyamunyamu asserted.
He added: "For us, it's one match at a time and our focus is very much on winning the trophy," he added.
Elsewhere, Gaspo Ladies will travel to Mumboha Stadium to face off with hosts Bunyore Starlets as they intensify their fight against relegation.
The two teams are on the red line with Bunyore Starlets ninth with nine points from 11 matches and Gaspo 11th with merely five points.
In other matches on the card, this weekend, Kibera Ladies FC face Bungoma Queens at Wolves Den in Kajiado, Soccer Assassins take on Kenya Police Bullets at Mumboha and Wadadia Ladies host Nakuru City Queens.
Zetech have no match after their would-be opponents Trans-Nzoia Falcons were relegated in the first leg for skipping three consecutive fixtures.
