Madira Soccer Assassins’ striker Charity Midewa was voted Player of the Month after an impressive performance in December last year
Midewa’s latest achievement was based on the club’s two matches in December, where they beat Ulinzi Starlets and Kenya Police Bullets during their first leg at Ulinzi Complex and Police Sacco Stadium respectively.
She has so far scored five goals in the 2023/24 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season. Midewa said the award was a motivation for her as she seeks to take her football career to a higher level.
She thanked the organisers of the awards, Let’s Talk Football Kenya (LTFK). She hopes to bag more awards in the coming days.
“This award is a motivation for me and I will build on it to keep my football career alive,” she added. She also thanked her teammates for the support that saw her win the accolade. She promised to continue pressing for even better results for the team to ensure they emerge top in the KWPL.
Midewa’s head Coach Francis Muhambe described her as one of the best players in the team.
He said in the 2022/2023 season, Midewa wasn’t able to post positive results in the team due to a knee injury that almost kept her off the pitch.
“Last season, Midewa had a bad knee injury and couldn’t perform to the best of her ability. Now she is fit and I am sure we will be hearing more about her,” the tactician noted.
“As the technical bench, we are working on the players to ensure most of them are beneficiaries of this award,” he noted.
