Former Kenya Volleyball Federation league champions Kenya Pipeline are the 2023 Zone V club champions after beating Rwanda Authority in straight sets on Sunday.

The Kenya Queens bagged the first set courtesy of a 25-20 scoreline, setting the stage for another faultless display.

Despite going neck-to-neck in the second set, the hosts faltered when it mattered most, eventually losing 25-23 to deflate their hopes of a comeback with the scoreline of 2-0 looking beyond their reach.

The Paul Gitau-coached Pipeline pulled a double over their rivals after annihilating them by the same scoreline in the preliminary stage.

Kenya Pipeline who were making their debut in the week-long competition, haven't lost a match in this year's edition.

Pipeline player's display in Rwanda must have caught the eyes of national team coaches and could be set for selection with the East Africa Community Games set for January 29 to February 5.

The victory also saw Gitau fulfill his title ambitions after promising to lift the trophy during the pre-tournament interview.

In the men's category, Rwanda National Police were crowned champions after coming from behind to beat Sport S 3-1.

Police lost the opening set 25-20 before regrouping to claim the victory.

They won the last three consecutive sets 25-14, 25-21 and 25-17 to lay their hands on the prestigious gong.
