Chris Mugo of Supermarlins Swim Club has set his sights on qualification for the Africa Junior Championships in Mauritius next month.
Mugo was in outstanding form during the second Inter Clubs gala held at the Mpesa Academy in Thika on Sunday, garnering 90 points.
"It was a good performance. I loved every bit of it. I hope to be selected for next month's Africa Junior Championships,” said Mugo.
Mugo is keen to get even better with time despite dominating the freestyle and backstroke races in the 12/13-year-old category.
"I believe I will get better by entering more competitions. With the coaching I have received, I think I can go far and do my club and country proud,” observed Mugo.
Meet director and Kiambu County Swimming chairman Stanley Kaberu has tipped Mugo for greatness if his performance on Sunday is anything to go by.
"He is one of the top young swimmers. He can go far,” said Kaberu.
In the boys' category, Swift Kids ran away with the title after securing 48 points. Supermarlins were second with 41 points while Seahorses bagged 31 points for third.

Seahorses were the overall champions with 79 points, followed by Swift (58), Braeburn ( 31) and MPesa Academy (27).
Kenya Aquatics Secretary General General Collins Marigiri pledged to foster collaboration with counties to elevate swimming and other aquatic sports from the grassroots level to the global stage.
"Following the lifting of the ban, we want to grow the sport in the counties and give swimmers from underprivileged backgrounds a chance to compete against the elites,” said Marigiri.
The two-day championship was sponsored by Kingdom Bank, a subsidiary of Cooperative Bank, and Zetech Bank with Kiambu county executive member, Osman Korane, donating the trophies.
