Three Kenyan hockey clubs have confirmed participation in the African Cup for Club Championship that will be held in Blantyre, Malawi from November 18 to 26.

The trio of Western Jaguars (men), Lakers and Blazers (women) will showcase their skills at Africa's Premier competition.

This will be the 34th edition of the men's tournament. The women, on the other hand, will compete in their 25th edition of the annual championship.

The last edition was held in Nairobi last February as Egyptian side Sharkia was crowned champions in the men's category while Ghana Revenue Authority was triumphant in the women's cadre.

It will be the second time both Lakers and Jaguars are taking part in the week-long competition after their debut in Nairobi.

Record national league champions Blazers are nine-time ACCC champions but their last title was in 2018 in Abuja Nigeria where they beat GRA.

It will be the first time the tournament is held in Malawi. Malawi was to host the championship in 2020 but the African Hockey Federation cancelled the tournament altogether because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We got the communication from the CS that everything was set for us to leave for Malawi on November 16. Air tickets, accommodation, participation fees and allowances of the players have been taken care of," Lakers team manager Jane Nyamogo told Nation  Sports.

"I can't tell how much was put into the arrangement since everything was done at their end. But We are just happy that we will be traveling after missing out on many editions due to finances ."

Sharkia (Egypt), Kada Stars (Nigeria), Police Machine (Nigeria), Genetix, Scorpions, Parachute Battalion (Malawi) and Uganda's Kampala are the men's teams.

Genetix, Scorpions, Capital Bravers (Malawi), GRA (Ghana), Nigerian pair of Kada and Delta Queens and Egypt's Sharkia are the women's teams.
