Handicap 26 golfer Caroline Nyarandi is full of optimism after emerging the overall winner at the 16th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour in Mombasa over the weekend.
Nyarandi demonstrated her golfing prowess by carding 44 Stableford points, surpassing a field of 191 fellow golfers in a two-day tournament held at the challenging par 71 Nyali Golf Club.
Nyarandi is now looking forward to continuing her journey of skill improvement as she eagerly awaits the grand finale in Nairobi on December 15.
“I have been in good form in the past few weeks. My swing was there, and I had an amazing four-ball. It is time to continue sharpening my skills as I eagerly await the grand finale in Nairobi,” Nyarandi said.
She was in the company of William Kaguta, Edwin Kiptoo and Raajkamal Dhanaj, who collectively scored an impressive 118 points, securing the overall team title.
Detan Ondieki, Wilson Rading, Peter Umara, and Joan Kimani returned with 112 points for second. These two teams join 13 others that have qualified for the grand finale.
Meanwhile, Mukesh Sangavi, playing off a handicap of 28, displayed remarkable golfing skills by carding 42 Stableford points, earning him the coveted title of overall men's winner. On the ladies' front, Annemarie Dejong, with a handicap of 31, clinched the lady's top award by scoring 39 points.
In the staff category, Scola Onsongo, who plays off handicap 31, returned an impressive 46 Stableford points to claim victory, with Ken Ouko, boasting a handicap of 24, securing the runner-up position.
Mike Mwimali, with a handicap of 16, won the guest award, and Fidel Wasike Jr., with a handicap of 17, was named the junior winner.
The event concluded with a junior ladies' golf clinic and a meaningful tree-planting activity, aligning with KCB's commitment to sustainability efforts.
