Rare motorcycles entered for this year's Concours d'Elegance

Among the big bikes lining up for judging will be the Suzuki GT750 of Captain David Mwaura.

In Summary

• Uganda's Franco Masetto, riding the Honda Varadero VTR1000 made in 2000, will lead the Pearl of Africa Motorcycle Club from Kampala.

• Concours patron Kevit Desai's 1974 Mercedes 450SL and the 1968 Jaguar 420 will also grace the show. Another Mercedes car entered for next month's show is a 1970 250D model of Uganda's Patrick Mweheire.

A Suzuki GT750 of David Mwaura, Prateek Singh Gullati’s 2001 Honda Shadow Aero and the 1989 Yamaha Super Tenere of David Odhuno are the latest entrants to this year's Africa Concours d'Elegance set for September 24 at the Ngong Racecourse.

Others are the rare 1952 Ducati of Gilgil motorcycle enthusiast Russell Hughes as well as Dominique Antoine's 1976 Bultaco, who will also present a 1925 Triumph 550 SD — the oldest bike in the show.

Car entries are currently going on at the Norfolk Towers, Nairobi.

Some of the cars already entered for the event include Joseph Alouch’s 1971 Mercedes Benz 300SE, the 1968 280SE model of Edward Davis and the 1952 Rolls Royce of Roger Tanner. 

Both Aluoch's and Davis' cars have previously won prizes in the Mercedes class for large touring cars.

Mweheire's collection includes a 1959 W180 model and a 1969 230S.

In the open sports cars category, three Alfa Romeo Spiders will be up against Triumph Spitfire while the 1947 MG TC of Sati Gata is expected to race in the convertibles category.
