United States International University USIU-A Mashujaa is set for a major boost as captain James Mwangi returns from a professional stint in Germany.

The attacking midfielder who plies trade with TSG Heibronn, is expected back int the country on Monday.

He is one of the many Kenyan hockey players enjoying spells with various German clubs.

Mashuja coach John Kabuu said, Mwangi, who has been indispensable, will add spark to their attack.

Finishing has been the varsity side's main undoing in the Kenya Hockey Union men's Premier League, although Mashujaa recorded a 3-1 win on Sunday against Sailors.

"The return of Mwangi is timely considering that we are on course to achieving our objectives of a top four place in the first leg. He has served the team diligently  in the last five years and his experience will come in handy," Kabuu said.

A double from Lawrence Makhatsa and Danston Barasa's strike guided Mashujaa to victory.

Mashujaa have one more fixture this month and will play Sikh Union at the Dashmesh Hockey Stadium along Forest Road, Nairobi on July 29.

"We have to aim higher. We had to adjust from a defensive approach to an attack-minded team. Reaping maximum points against Sikh will enable us move up the standings.

"I am delighted that all our goals come from penalty corners," he added.
