KCB Women’s Volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win past Nairobi Prisons in the national league match on Friday evening to move a step closer to qualifying for playoffs.

The bankers won by sets of 25-14, 25-23 and 25-11 to claim their victory in the match played at the Nyayo Stadium Indoor Arena.

Coach Japheth Munala started Immaculate Nekesa, Mercy Moim, Mildred Cherop, Lincy Jeruto, Juliana Namutira and Shirleen Maiywa. The tactician left star player and captain Edith Wisa on the bench as he expects a tougher fixture on Saturday.

KCB Coach Japheth Munala said: “I am very happy with the win. We started well in the first half, but the second half was below average. We made a lot of mistakes, especially in our service and reception that could have been costly. Wisa because we expect difficult matches Saturday and Sunday”.

Despite the win, Munala said the team has a lot to work on for the upcoming fixtures.

He quipped that the team is not as clinical, considering they have not played since the Club Championships held in Tunisia last month.

“We are still not a hundred percent bearing in mind we have not played competitively for a long time. We take the win, but we are going back to the drawing board to strategise and prepare for the remaining fixtures,” noted Munala.

KCB will resume action tomorrow against detectives DCI who saw off Postbank at the same venue earlier in the day.
