Gaspo to skip season-ender against Vihiga Queens, club confirms

Gaspo will not honour their last match of the Women's Premier League against Vihiga Queens at Gems Cambridge this weekend, the club has revealed.

On their social media page, the club said: “We as Gaspo Women football club, have decided not to participate in our final match against Vihiga Queens FC scheduled for Saturday.”

“This decision has come to be considered due to a number of reasons. We, therefore, will give out a walkover to the above-mentioned opponents.” 

Speaking to the Star on phone, Gaspo chairman Edward Githua added: “We have given a walkover to Vihiga Queens. We have already written to the federation indicating our concerns which I can’t share with the media."

Vihiga Queens have already been declared champions after amassing an assailable tally of 52 points. Gaspo are second with 48 points, six ahead of third-placed Ulinzi. Wadadia are fourth with 34 points, one better than Thika Queens.

Nakuru City Queens are six with 32 points while Zetech Sparks and Trans Nzoia Falcons have 29 points each with Sparks the better of the two in terms of goal difference.

Bunyore Starlets are ninth with 25 points while Kayole Starlets and Kangemi Ladies have already been relegated to Division One. Kisumu All Starlets' fate lies in this weekend's matches.
