Namwamba: Ministry to support junior drivers at WRC Safar Rally

The CS also said the ministry will be supporting female drivers to ensure motorsport doesn't become a male-only dominate sport.

The Cabinet Secretary for Sports and the Arts, Ababu Namwamba has said the ministry will support young Kenyan drivers during the 2023 World Rally Championships Safari Rally set for Naivasha on June-22-25.

Speaking during the launch of the sh150 million sponsorship by KCB towards the rally, Namwamba also said the ministry will be supporting female drivers to ensure motorsport doesn't become a male-only dominant sport.

Evans Kavisi, Karan Patel and Nikhil Sachania are part of the Kenyan drivers expected to roar in Naivasha.

"The ministry will add to this Kenyan compliments by supporting our youngsters; Mc Rae Kimathi, Jeremiah Wahome and Hamsa Anwar," Namwamba said.

"Motorsport cannot be a male-only dominated sport, therefore, the ministry will again be supporting female drivers in the rally. We are giving the event a Kenyan feel in terms of branding, support and actual participation," the CS added.
