Sharks stun champs Water Queens in Super Cup

Ulinzi Sharks stunned reigning women champions Nairobi Water Queens 33-26 in the Kenya Handball Federation Super Cup match at Nyayo  Stadium.

The soldiers, who went down to National Cereals and Produce Board 29-26 on Day One of the competition, trailed 14-12 at the breather.

"I really don't know what to say but I am so happy.  We have been coming number two for the last 12 years and I am happy with the turn of events," offered Sharks coach Nickson Oyaro.

"We lost yesterday against Cereals but we worked on our mistakes and it has worked for us," he noted.  Sarah Wasike scored seven goals while Euphracia Mukasia grabbed six for the Sharks before going into long celebrations.

Rangers stunned NCPB 27-24 after leading 11-8 at half-time. Diana Baraka, Belinda Mulinga and Lydia Juma scored five goals each.

Sarah Mabonga, Adda Musilibi and Joan Akinyi all found the net for millers with similar numbers.

In the men's cadre, Black Mamba tied 17-17 with General Service Unit. They were deadlocked 8-8 at half-time.

Morgan Juma hit four goals for Mamba who lost 31-24 to NCPB. Kenyatta University suffered two losses and were knocked out. The students went down 31-17 to Ulinzi who had Kevin Imo hitting 12 goals.
