Top cyclists converge for the second edition of  Eldoret Cycle 100 on May 28 in Uasin Gishu County.

The riders will compete in three categories thus —the main 100km race, the 50km race, and the 25km.

Organisers led by Martin Keino said they are targeting a diverse range of cyclists including professionals and recreational riders.

Keino called upon sports enthusiasts and sponsors to support different categories and revealed that the significance of the event is to help conserve the invaluable Kaptagat Forest in the North Rift Region.

He said the event will not only promote sportsmanship but also contribute towards the preservation of the region's vital water tower.

He emphasised the importance of active participation, urging more people to step forward and join the cause.

"We have a unique opportunity to make a real difference in our environment while engaging in the sports we love," he stated.

"By participating in this event, you will not only have a chance to showcase your skills but also contribute to the conservation of the Kaptagat Forest," said the young Keino.

“The Kaptagat Forest, renowned for its lush greenery and biodiversity, serves as a critical water tower, supplying essential resources to the surrounding communities and wildlife. There is an urgency of preserving this natural treasure. The event's proceeds will play a pivotal role in its conservation efforts,” he added.

The event promises a thrilling array of sports competitions, including long-distance running, cycling, and various team sports.

"Participants can look forward to challenging themselves while enjoying the breathtaking beauty of the Kaptagat Forest. Additionally, the event will feature engaging activities for spectators, ensuring a festive atmosphere for all involved," said Keino
