Mouloudia Sportive de Bou Salem utility player Simon 'Kosirai' Kipkorir has said the withdrawal of the General Service Unit from the African Club Championships is a missed chance for him to play against his parent club.

Bou Salem will represent Tunisia in the annual continental assignment from May 11-22 on home soil.

The 25-year-old joined the Tunisian giants on a one-year deal in September last year after helping the paramilitary side retain the Kenya Volleyball Federation league title.

Kosirai was eager to face GSU head-on in the tournament but the Gideon Tarus-coached side have given the event a wide berth owing to financial challenges.

"I really wanted to play against GSU in the club championship but it's a pity that won't happen because the team will not travel," Kosirai said.

Kosirai is a middle blocker for GSU but has been utilised as an opposite hitter in his previous spell by Saudi Arabia's Al Ibtisam—a role he is perfecting in Tunisia at the moment.

Kosirai said his options are open and will make a decision on his future at the right time.

"My agent reached out to me that the club is willing to extend my contract for a further year but I am yet to make up my mind. Al Ibtisam even informed me of their desire to  acquire my services for a second time but I had already started work in Tunisia," Kosirai said.

He added: "My dream is to play in Europe. I have to honour my contract with Sahel and we shall see what happens."
