Sikh Union coach Inderjit Singh Matharu has criticised the criteria used by the Kenya Hockey Union to draft league fixtures.

Matharu said it is unfair that some teams have played four matches while others are yet to play a single match this season.

His sentiments come following their 3-1 win over Strathmore Gladiators in the men's cadre on Saturday.

The victory was the first for the league returnees who will face Wazalendo in their fourth match on Sunday.

"It is unfair that some teams are yet to play even a single match while others have had a couple of matches yet they play in the same league," Matharu observed.

Western Jaguars, United States International University USIU-A Mashujaa and Kenya College of Accountancy University KCAU are yet to play.

Sikh have lost the opening two matches against leaders Butali Warriors and Sailors.  He termed the 3-2 loss to Sailors on April 8 'unfortunate' because of the poor playing surface of the City Park Stadium.

"We lost because the pitch was waterlogged. The players failed to execute the game plan," Matharu said.

"The win against Gladiators is a turning point. We want to maintain the same rhythm but improvement is urgently needed in attack. Profligacy in front of the goal must stop. The strikers need to take their chances so that we can win matches and challenge for a top six finish."
