Bunyore Starlets striker Irene Madaline has trained her eyes on the 'Golden Boot' as the Football Kenya Federation Women's Premier League returns next weekend.

Madaline, who has five goals so far, insists she has what it takes to outdo the frontrunners.

Thika Queens' Wendy Atieno leads the chart with 13 goals followed by Monica Etot of Kisumu All Starlets (10) while the trio of Thika's Chris Katch, Jackline Chesang of Wadadia and Puren Alukwe of Zetech follow with seven goals each.

Eliy Muteshi of Nakuru City Queens, Janet Moraa of Vihiga Queens, Lydia Akoth of Gaspo, Maureen Achieng of Vihiga Queens and Mutukiza Wambui of Gaspo are on six goals each.

Ulinzi Starlets' duo of Mercy Airo and Lucy Nato are tied on five goals with Madaline.

"I will do all it takes to ensure I outshine the current top scorers on the chart," Madaline said.

"I was on a good run before I suffered an injury that made me miss our match against Trans Nzoia Falcons at Mumboha grounds," she said, adding that she was out of sorts in their match against Nakuru City Queens.

Topistar Situma clinched last season's golden boot with 16 goals, which helped her move to Tanzanian giants Simba Queens.

Starlets coach Daniel Arunga backed the young attacker, saying she has the talent and mindset to hit her targets.

"What I pray is for her to utilize all the available opportunities and to remain focused," Arunga said.

"The girl has the capacity to perform well, if she stays injury-free. she could even lead us to a top-four finish if she returns to her goalscoring form."
