Kenya Lacrosse assistant coach Peter Ginnegar believes sloppy mistakes cost them a shot at the World Lacrosse Men’s Championships scheduled for June 21 to July 1, 2023 in San Diego, California.

Kenya fell 9-8 to Uganda in the first-ever Africa Association of Lacrosse qualifier at Kenton College in Kileleshwa for the last spot at the world show.

“We made some mistakes in the end and, unfortunately, we couldn’t score in overtime,” Ginnegar said.

He added that the tournament, being the first ever in Africa, was a learning experience and they will just go back to the drawing board and work on their shortcomings.

“This is just one game of many. Being the first ever African qualifier, it was a learning experience for us. I want to congratulate Uganda for the victory and I know they will do well (at the World Championships). Although, deep down, I wish we made it,” he said.

Ginnegar said the team has made great progress and he is proud on the direction the sport is taking at the moment.

“We are doing better than we were a month and a half ago. We are on the right track,” he concluded.
