Odhiambo, Etemesi join City Stars

The club has so far signed six players to replace more than 10 who departed last season.

Offensive midfielder Daniel Odhiambo and forward Kelvin Etemesi are the latest players to join Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Nairobi City Stars.

Odhiambo, popularly known as Dante joins Simba wa Nairobi from Kibera Black Stars while Etemesi was signed from third-tier side Kangemi All-Stars.

They now join Samuel Kapen, Clifford Ouma, Newton Ochieng, Andrew Kisilu in the City Stars stable ahead of the new KPL season.

Odhiambo, a former junior international has been training with Simba wa Nairobi since August and is now a confirmed signing for the upcoming season.

“I want to take this time to return all the glory to God for this chance. I take this opportunity as a platform to showcase my talent to the fullest, and to help the team win major trophies,” said Odhiambo, a former Kenya U17 player.

During pre-season, Odhiambo featured in nine games clocking 589 minutes, scoring twice. Odhiambo will don jersey number 17 which belonged to Nicholas Kipkirui.

Etemesi plugs into virtually all positions up front and will provide coach Nicholas Muyoti with extra options.

“Joining City is a dream come true. I had been following Timothy Ouma, who was my mirror, and he always encouraged me that someday I will play in the top flight. Here I am. I am ready to work to achieve my goals and help the team,” said Etemesi

Etemesi has been in the Simba wa Nairobi ranks since August and has gone on to score four times with one assist in 13 games.

Etemesi inherits jersey number 20, which belonged to Ouma, who moved to Swedish top-tier side IF Elfsborg.
