Malkia Strikers libero Veronica Makokha is banking on the Brazil training and World Championships to earn a profession stint in the near future.

The Kenya Defence Forces player earned her maiden Malkia call up and is part of the team toiling away in Brazil for the two month High Performance Training ahead of the quadrennial showpiece.

Poland and the Netherlands will jointly co-host the 24-team games drawn from six confederations from September 23 to October 15.

"The aim is to play abroad as soon as possible because that is the dream of any player who intends to enjoy stardom," she presumed.

"I have really worked hard for this opportunity and thankfully,  it has arrived at the right time for me to showcase my talent. I have many years ahead but my talent can only be noticed if given chance to play," Makokha, 24, hinted.

Malkia lost 3-2 to Taubate club in their sixth test match on Tuesday and on July 28, they crumbled against Sao Caetano by the same scoreline.

The Paul Bitok-led team must strike the right balance and get their act together ahead of the 19th edition of the competition with a second-round ambition in their sight.

Makokha schooled at Lugulu Girls between 2013-2016 and in her final year managed to win a bronze at the East Africa School Games in Eldoret with Kosirai bagging gold.

She, however, admitted that she needs a lot of training. "Being a receiver also calls for defensive duties which can also be perfected with consistent practice."

Makokha grew up at Kamukuywa in the giant Bungoma county. She said perseverance has been her motto all along since giving up is not an option.

"I have had many ups and downs in my career but they have served to inject belief in me that no situation is permanent. I'll keep chasing my dreams until I make it in life."
