KPA bundled out of Africa volleyball show

Kenya Ports Authority exited the men's African Club Volleyball Championship 2022, Kelibia, Tunisia at the quarterfinal stage losing 3-0 to Cameron's Port Douala.

The coastal side lost in straight sets of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-17. Port Douala advanced to the semifinals of the competition.

Egypt's Al Ahly also advanced to the last four after getting the better of Nigeria Customs in the last eight.

Smooth sailing North Africans who are also the record champions, achieved their fate in straight sets of 25-11, 25-16and 25-9.

Elsewhere, Rwanda's Gisagara prevailed 3-2 against Club Olympique de Kelibia of Tunisia in the third semifinal.

The high-octane match saw Gisagara bag the opening set 29-27. Club Olympique restored parity taking the second set 25-22 before making it 2-1.

The Tunisian side' s renewed energy allowed them to win the third set by a nine-point margin (25-16). The Rwandese leveled the matters in the fourth 25-23 before peeling away from their opponents in the decider.

Defending champions Esperance knocked out Equity Bank in the round of 16. Equity who were making their maiden appearance in the continent's Premier club competition exited the championship with just one win, beating Port Douala 3-2. Prior to the quarters setback, KPA had won all their matches.
