Borabu MP Ben Momanyi shares a light moment with former councillors at his home on Sunday

Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has received a boost after 62 former Nyamira councillors endorsed his governorship bid.

The former councillors said Momanyi is the right person to unseat  Governor Amos Nyaribo, who they blamed for failing to tame corruption.

They spoke on Sunday evening at Momanyi’s home in the Matutu Settlement scheme after day-long deliberations.

“As former councillors, we have unanimously resolved to endorse Momamyi’s bid to be our governor," former county council chairman Evans Moegi said.

"Having listened to his manifesto, we believe he has what it takes to be our third governor. He has demonstrated leadership and has developed Borabu."

Another former councillor Nelson Onduko said, “Today is a historic day. We have endorsed Momanyi because he has a clear plan on how he will improve the county. We don’t want leaders who are being imposed from some quarters.”

Momanyi thanked the former civic leaders for endorsing his bid.

“I’m happy that you have unanimously agreed to stand with me in this journey. There are many candidates in Nyamira but you have picked me,” Momanyi said.

“We have had deliberations and I have listened to your wise counsel. I promise not to let the people down.”
