Vihiga Bullets reinforce squad by signing six players

Newly promoted Kenya Premier League side, Vihiga Bullets signed six players players to reinforce the team ahead of the top flight league. 

Head coach Evans Mafuta said he is keen to add four more players before the end of the transfer window.

Those signed include midfielder Patrick Okullo from relegated Vihiga United, Anthony Niabei (West Indies Stars), fullback Mike Simiyu (Gusii FC), stopper Moffat Liuva (Kakamega Homeboyz), Martin Oduor (Kisumu All Stars) and Jesse Kajuba from Uganda People’s Defence

“The four that I want to add to the team are already with us but we are yet to complete the formalities. So I can’t reveal their identities. They include a goalkeeper, a striker and two defenders,” added the former Nairobi Stima and APS Bomet coach.

On Friday, Bullets who are associated with former Vihiga County governor Moses Akaranga beat Mombasa Elites 2-1 in a friendly game. “It was a critical game for us because it helped me gauge the new players. So far, I’m happy with the way the team is progressing. The new and old players are gelling well,” added the tactician.

Speaking ahead of their second game in the topflight league against Posta Rangers at Thika Stadium on Friday, he said his charges are ready to take on top guns.

“The three weeks international break has helped us work on the team’s fitness and other tactical aspects. I know the game against Rangers will be tough but the players are ready,” added the coach.
