In the Junior boys category, Stephen Ndegwa, Tabika Bifwoli, Maina Monyo, Ivan Hart, Kunal Khagram and Jono Opande will fly the country's flag  while Victoria Okumu, Maria Bianchi and Lubaina Ali will be in the girls junior category.

Head of the Sports Dispute Tribunal John Ohaga, who are mandated to run the sport until elections are held, said the selection of swimmers to the championship was above board despite allegations of bias by stakeholders.

"This was self-sponsored gala and the selection criteria was in the open and the team selected is quite competitive,” added Ohaga. He thanked the Ministry of Sports for funding the team through the Sports Fund.

"All expenses have been paid by government for the week-long championship in the Ghanaian capital and the swimmers can concentrate on doing the country proud in the championship," he noted.

Competition is expected to be stiff with top swimmers from South Africa,  Algeria , Egypt and Tunisia expected to grace the event.

Ohaga said Kenya was likely to be represented at the CANA Zone 3 event in Kampala next month.

He said he is hopeful  the long awaited elections will be held in the first quarter of the new year if the in the injunction in the constitutional court can be dropped.

“I'm speaking to the parties involved and we hope we can settle it out of court and start preparing for the polls,” added Ohaga.
