Kenyan Premier League Champions Gor Mahia have terminated the contract of former Kenyan international captain Dennis Oliech over gross misconduct.
The former Auxerre, Nantes and Ajacio forward's name was included in Gor Mahia's 2019 CAF Champions league and Kenyan Premier League campaign squad, but he will have to be replaced.
According to Gor Mahia official website on Tuesday night, the club discontinued Oliech’s contract due to “serious and persistent cases of misconduct”.
The club officially wrote to the player informing him of the development and promised to settle his dues.
“In pursuance of the provisions of Clause 6 of your Player Agreement Contract entered into with Gor Mahia Football Club we hereby write to advise you that we have terminated your contract with immediate effect on grounds of Just Cause as also stipulated in FIFA Article 14 Regulations of the Statues and Transfer of Players,” read a part of Gor’s letter addressed to Oliech.
He is also accused of offering himself to vie for a political post, which is against the club's code of conduct.
Oliech 34, signed a two-year deal with KO’gallo on January 2, 2019, but never completed even a year.
“Oliech openly absconded duty and never answered to phone calls from the club chairman, not even the team manager. He never came for training but always wanted to be paid, So why do you pay some one who is not in any way helping theclub?" Gor Mahia CEO Omondi Aduda said.
Oliech who suffered an arm injury that saw him miss the last five KPL matches, also missed the coronation and medal party at Machakos during the end of the 2018/2019 KPL season without any explanation, was also accused of influencing other players negatively and leading go-slows.
The former Harambee Stars captain and all-time Kenya top-scorer with 34 goals, managed partly six goals for Gor in his short tenure and one CAF Confederations cup goal, on their way to the record 18th KPL title.
Oliech who hails from a foot balling family, become the third sibling to play for Gor Mahia FC after his late brother Steve Okumu and Kevin Oliech donned the famous green and white colors.
