Gor Mahia consolidated their lead at the top of the Sportpesa Premier League thanks to their narrow 1-0 victory at Nzoia United yesterday. In-form Rwandan international Medie Kagere was the hero once again as he struck the winner with just a quarter of an hour played in the match to seal Gor’s eighth win of the season and move them to 25 points, two clear of Posta Rangers.
Still unbeaten, Rangers could not build up on their strong start to the campaign dropping two more points in their goalless draw with Nakumatt. This was the mail men’s second successive stalemate, a result that will surely leave coach Sammy Omollo worried that his charges are starting to lose steam as the season heads towards the halfway stage.
Tusker stayed hot on the heels of the leading trio as they held on to beat Sony Sugar 2-1.
Alan Wanga gave the brewers the lead in the 24th minute before Mike Khamati seemingly ended the game as a contest just after the break. A penalty twenty minutes from time

by Amos Asembeka gave Sony hope but Tusker held on for their fourth successive win that took their tally to 21 points same as third-placed Ulinzi Stars, who beat Muhoroni Youth by a similar scoreline.
A goal from Ghanaian striker Gilbert Faimenyo spared AFC Leopadrs from the jaws of defeat against debutants Zoo Kericho whom they held to a 1-1 draw.
Thika United, who also drew 0-0 with Kakamega Homeboyz, are now bottom of the table with

eight points after Western Stima showed the fighting spirit that has been lacking in their ranks since they came from behind to defeat Gor Mahia as they did the same against Mathare United to end their five match winless run.
Kennedy Otieno had opened the scoring for misfiring Stima but a double from Chrispin Oduor either side of halftime left the powermen staring at yet another defeat. But for once in months, the resilience that has been missing in the Stima ranks came to the fore as goals from Moses Arita and a last gasp winner from Bernard Ondiek consigned Mathare to a third consecutive loss.
