Everything we know about Ruto speaks to the man not wanting to play by the rules but, rather, he wants to show the country he has the proverbial bigger balls like no other deputy president before him. To say he intends to do everything he can to try and beat President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga is an understatement.
I do not believe Ruto will go as far as creating chaos after the election. He may be blindly ambitious as to wanting to be president by any means but I seriously doubt he would want to be hauled again to the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
Not even his money can save him were he to create an environment conducive to death and violence. Were he or his advisers to have such intent, it would be wiser for them to disabuse themselves of the notion.
There is nothing wrong with anyone having presidential ambitions but given the history of our country, and especially given the death and violence that has followed each election save for 2002, the wiser thing Ruto should do is to release the foot from the peddle and live to fight another day.
This is because barring something catastrophic, Raila and Martha Karua are poised to win the election and be sworn as our next president and deputy president.
Unlike his main competitor who is a novice and may not be able to name many of the major players on the global scene, Raila is an internationalist well known to all presidents in Africa and key leaders of the east and western hemispheres.
This is not conjecture or hyperbole but a conclusion based on facts.
Raila has been fighting for the freedoms we enjoy since Independence alongside fellow heroes such as his father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Jomo Kenyatta, Kenneth Matiba, Bildad Kaggia, Gitobu Imanyara and others. While these heroes succeeded in delivering the first and second liberations, Raila has been steadfast and at the helm of fighting for the third liberation.
If one appreciates freedom—and we all should and must—then it can only be fair and wise to reward Raila with the presidency. I would normally say Raila has won the presidency at least twice but was not sworn in and therefore should be reelected, but I have since stopped saying that because the handshake cured everything.
It is nonetheless something for voters, especially his supporters, to keep in mind for he must have a high turnout to put Ruto away.
The second reason Raila has a sure victory on the horizon is the man is a visionary and has an agenda he wants to implement as a transformative leader. An agenda that will ensure that all Kenyans can finally enjoy all the benefits of being an independent country where everything we need for all Kenyans to live a comfortable life is found within our borders.
The only reason why this has not happened is because of corruption, which has the economy in a chokehold. The economy continues to be on life support.
No one can seriously argue as to who between Raila and Ruto will take corruption face-on and that is Raila Amolo Odinga. With the incorruptible Narc-K leader Martha by his side as deputy president, Kenyans can be assured corruption will finally be dealt a serious, if not fatal, blow.

For all these and many other reasons, Raila is well placed to easily defeat Ruto
