AP officers in Limuru yesterday arrested a young couple with household goods allegedly stolen from their neighbours in Kamirithu village.

Limuru AP boss Michael Ndegwa said they found 25-year-old John Gitau hiding in the space above the ceiling.

His wife Margaret Wanjiku, 26, had told them Gitau was not in the house.

The officers found refrigerators, TVs, home theatre systems, DVD and VCD players, mattresses, blankets, carpets, clothes, primary and secondary school textbooks and shoes, Ndegwa said.

Many villagers visited Kamirithu AP camp, where the couple was locked up, and identified their missing property.

Ndegwa said when they arrived at the couple’s house at 6am, Wanjiku told them Gitau had gone to a slaughterhouse to buy meat to sell in his butchery.

He said together with his officers, they searched the house and found many goods in one room, but Wanjiku could not explain their source.

Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi thanked police for working with residents to improve security.
