Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwuor.

Langata MP Phelix Odiwuor, aka Jalang'o, has said he predicted he would become a prominent person when he featured in Papa Shirandula.

He shared a video in which his character, Jalang'o, in the Citizen TV drama tells the title character that he will change things, including adding titles before his name.

The title character was played by Charles Bukeko, 58, who died in 2020 after developing breathing complications while waiting for treatment at a top private hospital.

Jalang'o paid tribute to Bukeko and wished he was alive to see him as a mheshimiwa.

"In God's own time!! I wish papa was here to see this come to pass!"

Papa Shirandula came up with his brand name Jalang'o, the MP said.

"Papa pointed at me randomly and said ‘You will be Jalang’o. He then points at my colleague and says ‘You will be Otoyo. These are your scripts for tomorrow, familiarise [yourselves] with them.' And just like that, I became Jalang’o for life," he said.

Jalang'o said he regrets that he never got a chance to celebrate or even bid Bukeko farewell.

He and other comedians are paying school fees for Bukeko's children.
