Sauti Sol guitarist Polycarp Otieno's wife Lady Mandy grew up with an abusive dad.
Speaking to Engage Talk, the mother of one said her parents separated due to their marital conflict.
She recalled a tragic experience that occurred on one of her birthdays when her dad caused a commotion.
"As the evening was going on, my father showed up," she said.
He started to fight with her mum, bringing the whole neighbourhood to a standstill.
When her mum later separated from her dad, she got married to another man, something that made Mandy's life even harder.
At some point, she got into depression.
"The new man tried to charm me and my sisters but it didn’t work. That was a hard moment."
