Maina Kageni has ordered two pairs of Balenciaga destroyed sneakers for Sh214,600 each.
"I have ordered two pairs of the worn-out Balenciaga shoes," he said on Classic 105's morning show.
His co-host Mwalimu King'ang'i could not understand how Maina can spend such an amount when his (Mwalimu's) kids need school fees.
"I have heard there are shoes being sold by Balenciaga, from the dustbin," he said.
"People do not remove seeds from the bhang they smoke? What will they not show us?"
Eric Omondi has also revealed that he bought the same shoes at Sh213,000 and the shipping cost was Sh65,000.
The images of the distressed shoes were shot by photographer Leopold Duchemin.
The images have gone viral following Monday's launch of the couture brand's new Paris sneaker, with outrage at the appearance of the high tops swirling online.
According to the fashion house, only 100 pairs of "extra destroyed" sneakers will be available to buy for Sh214,600.
Meanwhile, the non-limited edition, and less roughed-up versions, are being sold on the Balenciaga website for Sh57,420 and Sh72,500, depending on the specific style.
