Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee and her husband Nigerian American actor Rotimi have explained why they will not show their baby’s face on social media.

Rotimi and Mdee have posted photos of their son on social media but are careful to hide his face.

"We are celebrities but our child never chose that. He never chose that life and it comes with a lot of things. We are giving him a chance to know himself," Mdee said on Instagram live.

"He is a young man. Let him grow up. It’s not like we are hiding him. You all know that he is there. He is our baby, he is our heart."

Announcing the birth of their son, Rotimi said his name is Adeoluwa Seven, meaning God’s crown.

Mdee said seven is God’s number of completion.

"This child signifies that to me and my husband. He is our completion and he’s a blessing from God. A true blessing."
