Nairobi minority whip Peter Imwatok on Saturday surprised his mum with a house worth Sh5 million to celebrate her birthday.

Speaking to Word Is, Imwatok said he was appreciating her for raising him and educating the family.

"Yeah, this is my small gift to her. She has made me who I am today and I must appreciate her so much," he said.

"Things were difficult for us as a family but through her hard work, she stood with us, took care of us despite those challenges, and I'm now happy that we can comfortably put food on the table."

Imwatok's family grew up in Makongeni, and he said affording a meal was a nightmare.

He worked as a security officer to pay his school fees before venturing into business then politics.
