Tourism CS Najib Balala has encouraged young people to take marriage seriously.

Speaking during the Wedding Fair by Kempinski on Saturday, he said although some can do without it, it is a serious issue.

A week ago, during Churchill Show 'The Journey series', business tycoon Chris Kirubi termed marriage enslavement.

Balala said, "I don't agree that marriage is enslavement because to me marriage is like a partnership.

"There is no way a man can live without a woman and there is no way a woman can live without a man. Marriage is, therefore, a blessing from God and it brings offsprings.

"I have been married for 32 years and with two grandchildren."

Balala also encouraged young people to hold weddings saying they unite families and bring happiness and innovations.
