New accounts that want to purchase the Blue subscription that gives the badge, will have to wait for 90 days before it relaunches, Twitter has said.

According to Verge, this could reduce the chances of scammers and impersonating accounts.

According to the report, the old plan did not specify a waiting period, but it did have a warning that "Twitter accounts created on or after November 9, will be unable to subscribe to Twitter Blue at this time."

Twitter CEO Elon Musk, said users who change their verified name will lose the blue check mark until twitter confirms the new name does not violate their terms of service.

Twitter blue will be sustained for a subscription fee of Sh972 ($8) per month.

Subscribers will enjoy priorities in replies, mentions, and searches, which he added was essential to defeat spam/scams.

They will also be able to post long videos and audio and get half as many adverts.

The tycoon said there will also be a secondary tag below the name for someone who is a public figure, which is already the case for politicians.

"There will be a paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with us," Musk said.

He said the subscription will be a source of revenue stream for Twitter, making it possible to reward content creators.

The relaunch of the new Twitter Blue will happen on November 29.
