Over the past few weeks, we have witnessed creators on social media posting funny videos and photos on what looks like a similar crying filter.

They are not actual tears, it is just an augmented reality technology that was created on Snapchat and people on Instagram and TikTok to make everyone look like they are at their emotional breaking point.

The filter gives you a frowny, sad face with upturned eyebrows and bloodshot eyes.

The filter is being used to prank friends and to completely transform recognizable clips from celebrities, movies or even reality shows worldwide.

The person behind the camera proceeds to ask them something along the lines of, "What's wrong?" “You look so sad” and the victim, mostly unaware of the prank is wildly confused.
