If you are a heavy duty smartphone user, browsing, taking videos, playing games or taking pictures your phone’s battery can drain fast.
It can be so agonising especially when some phones take more time to charge so some may opt to use the phone while it is still charging and this is the beginning of the end of your battery.
However, that separation anxiety can be reduced by this trick. While you are charging your phone, switch to airplane mode, so that the phone won't slow down the process by continually burning energy trying to connect with cell phone towers and plot your location with its GPS function.
Switching to airplane mode, turns off reception of radio transmitters which drains your battery.
As a result, your phone charges more quickly.
According to the CNET video, “Enabling airplane mode results in a charging time that was four minutes faster than when you charge your phone normally... So, it's true airplane mode may save you a few minutes of charging time.”
