5th Star Awards hosted in Nairobi

The 5thEdition of the DStv Eutelsat Star Awards were held on Tuesday evening at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi. Kenya had two finalists out of the over 36 contestants from across Africa, battling it out for the top prize of a trip for two to Eutelsat in Paris and the opportunity to witness a rocket launch.

The 5th

Edition of the DStv Eutelsat Star Awards were held on Tuesday evening at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi.

Kenya had two finalists out of the over 36 contestants from across Africa, battling it out for the top prize of a trip for two to Eutelsat in Paris and the opportunity to witness a rocket launch.

Officiated by Education CS Dr Fred Matiang’i and his ICT counterpart Joe Mucheru, the event saw the contestants awarded in various categories.

The competition, held every year, is open to learners aged 14-19

who

are expected to write an essay or design a poster on ‘how satellites have helped understand and take care of our planet.’

Present were French ambassador Remi Marechaux, Multichoice Kenya GM Steven Isaboke, Eutelset Africa vice-president Rodney Benn and several principals from schools around the country.
