The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders is the flagship programme of President Barack Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (Yali), designed to equip the next generation of African leaders with academic and professional training.
On Wednesday evening at his residence in Muthaiga, US ambassador Robert Godec hosted 40 Kenyan fellows selected to take part in this year’s fellowship.
Professionals in the areas of civic leadership, public management, health and entrepreneurship were present as well as the 2014 Fellows who imparted a few tips to the new group.
The fellows departed on Thursday night for various universities across the United States for the six-eight week course.
